Vineyard of Altea Illotto

Altea Illotto is a small family business that manages its own vineyards organically and seeks to standardise its wines as little as possible. The producer relies on healthy grapes, natural soil fertility and spontaneous fermentation to preserve the character of southern Sardinia. The aim is authentic wine that allows local varieties, Mediterranean conditions and the landscape around Serdiana to speak clearly.

Maurizio Altea and Adele Illotto founded the business in 1992. Its approximately five hectares of vineyards lie within the small Sibiola IGT zone and include Nuragus, Nasco, Cannonau, Carignano and Monica. Grapes are harvested by hand and fermented with indigenous yeasts; sulphur use is limited. Organic inspection is associated with ICEA.

Altea Bianco Sibiola IGT from Altea Illotto is a dry white wine with 14% alcohol. No specific vintage is recorded for this listing. The wine is made from Nasco, Vermentino, Nuragus. The selected grapes and style suggest citrus, white stone fruit, Mediterranean herbs and a lightly saline freshness. This gives it a recognisable, accessible style that is suitable for fish, shellfish, salads, vegetables and light pasta dishes. Do not serve too warm; if the wine is powerful or mature, let it breathe briefly for a more open flavour profile.
