Vineyard of Montesecondo

Montesecondo aims to make Chianti Classico as a direct expression of living soil, grape and season. Silvio Messana works organically and biodynamically and intervenes little in the cellar, allowing Sangiovese to retain its natural energy and digestibility. The estate does not seek a standardised style, but wines with tension, transparency and a recognisable connection to San Casciano.

The estate is located near San Casciano in Val di Pesa and mainly produces Sangiovese within Chianti Classico, alongside country wines from local and international varieties. Montesecondo is certified organic and Demeter. Traditional wooden casks are combined with experiments in amphora and cement. The different bottlings show both classic appellation wine and freer interpretations of individual grapes and plots.

Bianco from Montesecondo is a dry white wine with 12% alcohol. This listing is for the 2024 vintage. The wine is made from Trebbiano Toscano. The selected grapes and style suggest citrus, white fruit, floral nuances and a dry, fresh finish. This gives it a recognisable, accessible style that is suitable for fish, shellfish, salads, vegetables and light pasta dishes. Do not serve too warm; if the wine is powerful or mature, let it breathe briefly for a more open flavour profile.
