Vineyard of Querciabella

Querciabella strives to make outstanding wines that combine elegance and depth with demonstrable respect for nature and society. Organic and biodynamic farming form the foundation, while the operation has been entirely plant-based since 2010. The estate aims to show that ambitious wine quality, animal welfare, biodiversity and responsibility towards future generations can reinforce one another.

Querciabella was founded in 1974 by Giuseppe Castiglioni and remained family-owned after fifty harvests. The business owns vineyards in Chianti Classico and Maremma and is known for Camartina, Batar and Mongrana, among others. Farming is organic; biodynamic methods are used without proven Demeter certification. ICEA is named as the inspection body for the organic operation.

Batàr Toscana IGT from Querciabella is a dry white wine with 14% alcohol. This listing is for the 2023 vintage. The wine is made from Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco. The selected grapes and style suggest apple, citrus, white fruit and a balanced combination of freshness and roundness. This gives it a recognisable, accessible style that is suitable for fish, shellfish, salads, vegetables and light pasta dishes. Do not serve too warm; if the wine is powerful or mature, let it breathe briefly for a more open flavour profile.
