Lithuanian Wine Legislation – Official Wine Regions

Lithuania has no officially registered wine PDOs or wine PGIs with the EU. Viticulture is small-scale and experimental.

Historically, midus (mead) is Lithuania's most important fermented beverage, with roots in the Middle Ages.

PIWI = Pilzwiderstandsfähig (fungus-resistant). Lithuania focuses on cold-climate hybrids, mainly American and European PIWI varieties.
