Vineyard of Kanecher-Gotteszorn (Canecher Wëngertsbierg)

Kanecher Gotteszorn is an organic vineyard project run by natur&ëmwelt Lenneng-Kanech. It combines nature and landscape management with viticulture, volunteering and education. Its aim is to sustain a living cultural landscape in which biodiversity, the local community and organic production reinforce one another, with the proceeds reinvested in the project.

The south-facing terraced vineyard features old dry-stone walls and lies in a varied landscape of hedgerows, grassland and orchards. In 1995, the project launched Luxembourg's first organic wine. Elbling forms the historic basis, alongside plantings of Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir. The products bear LU-BIO-05, and volunteers regularly assist with the manual harvest.

The profile is lean and refreshing, with lemon, green apple and a lightly saline, spicy note, underpinned by lively acidity. Kanecher Gotteszorn farms organically and produces wine and sparkling wine on a small scale. As a non-vintage wine, it focuses on a recognisable house style. The wine contains 11.0% alcohol and is offered in a 75cl bottle. Serve chilled with fish, shellfish, sushi or fresh salads.
