Vineyard of Quinta da Vacariça

Quinta da Vacariça is the Bairrada project of French sommelier François Chasans. He works biodynamically and with minimal intervention to express as fully as possible the natural acidity, structure and ageing potential of Baga and other regional grapes.

François Chasans bought his first vineyard in 1999 and made his first wine in 2008. The estate covers approximately seven hectares and ages wine in vessels including large wooden vats, clay and concrete. The producer is based in Tamengos, Anadia and operates within Bairrada (DOP). In this workbook, organic status is confirmed. The recorded scope is EU Organic / ECOCERT (since 2019). Other products or vintages are not automatically covered.

Quinta da Vacariça Garrafeira from Quinta da Vacariça is a dry red wine from Portugal. This 2014 vintage is made from Baga. The bottle contains 75cl and has an alcohol content of 13.5%. The flavour profile features ripe red and dark fruit, spices and a subtle earthy note, with a balanced structure, well-judged tannins and a lingering finish. It pairs well with grilled meat, stews, mushrooms or mature cheese. Serve at an appropriate temperature and, for more complex wines, allow a little air if needed so that the aromas and structure can fully develop.
