Vineyard of Stadswijngaard Utrecht

Stadswijngaard Utrecht is a community initiative that grows wine grapes sustainably together with local residents. The foundation aims to create green spaces where viticulture, relaxation, tranquillity and a connection with nature come together. Volunteers maintain the plots, share knowledge and gradually build a distinctive Utrecht wine culture. In doing so, the urban vineyard makes local food production visible and accessible in the heart of the city.

The first vines were planted at De Koningshof in 2020, followed shortly afterwards by De Clos in the city centre. In May 2023, Druivengaard on the edge of Máximapark was added. All three sites are maintained by teams of volunteers. The foundation intends to expand the number of plots in future.
