Vineyard of Tillingham

Tillingham approaches viticulture as part of a holistic farm in East Sussex. Using biodynamic principles and minimal intervention, the estate aims to make lively, site-specific wines while improving the soil, biodiversity and resilience of the land.

Approximately twenty grape varieties are grown across ten hectares. Tillingham is known for pét-nat, skin-contact wines and fermentation in Georgian qvevri. The holistically managed estate also includes a restaurant and accommodation. The farm near Rye has eleven rooms, a restaurant, a bar and seasonal accommodation options, bringing farming, wine and hospitality together in one integrated experience.

Chardonnay from 2024 from Tillingham is a white wine in a 75cl bottle. The style is dry. In aroma and taste, lemon, fine patisserie and subtle wood tones come to the fore, with tension, freshness and a delicate golden yellow colour. Fruit from three plots was pressed directly and fermented in a combination of wood, qvevri, concrete and steel. The wine is made from Chardonnay. The alcohol content has not been published. Serve with seafood, salads or soft cheeses.
