Wijngaard El Placer is a small-scale organic polder vineyard where biodiversity, craftsmanship and hospitality take centre stage. Johan Rippen and Lidwien Vos de Wael work without chemical pesticides or copper and are building a resilient ecosystem with herbs, trees and homemade compost. Through their natural approach, they aim to make flavoursome wine and inspire visitors to view sustainable viticulture differently.

El Placer was established in 2000 and covers 0.5 hectares, with 900 Regent vines and 500 Rondo vines. Its name means “the pleasure”. In addition to red and rosé wine, the business produces grappa and, depending on the season, verjuice. Volunteers and interns help out, while visitors can take part in tastings, tours and winemaking workshops.
